No. 1: STATE ST @ ELLSWORTH RD, Ann Arbor

This busy roundabout bordering Ann Arbor and Pittsfield Township again tops the list of Washtenaw County’s Most Dangerous Intersections.

Unfortunately, there was another increase in motor vehicle accidents. In 2023, there were 126 total crashes, which was up from 93 in 2022, 79 in 2021, and 69 in 2020. However, total accidents in 2023 was still lower than 154 in 2019.

There were 5 injuries in 2023, which was down from 7 in 2022. In 2021, there was 1 injury. In 2020 and 2019, there were 6 and 8 injuries, respectively.

No. 2: HOGBACK RD @ WASHTENAW AVE, Pittsfield Township

For the third year in a row, this interchange came in at #2 on the list of Washtenaw County’s Most Dangerous intersections.

In 2023, there were 58 total crashes, which was the highest amount between 2020 and 2023. In 2022, 2021, and 2020, there were 45, 50 and 35 crashes, respectively. 

Injuries jumped in 2023, increasing to 10 from 3 in 2022, In 2021, there 13 injuries. And, in 2020, there were 5 injuries.
