Want to Understand the Constitution? Don’t Ask a Lawyer!
Most Americans say the Constitution is important. Most Americans say it’s crucial for the government to stay within its constitutional bounds. But what exactly are the constitutional limits on federal power? How do we know? Well, whatever you do, don’t ask a lawyer. Most of them know very little about the Constitution. I can already hear some people protesting. Lawyers know a lot about the Constitution. They learn constitutional law, for goodness sake! But read closely what I wrote. I didn’t say they don’t know a lot about constitutional law. I said they typically don’t know a lot about the Constitution. There’s a huge difference. Constitutional law is made up of a bunch of lawyers’ opinions about what the Constitution means. But that’s not how you understand …

There’s a lot of safety precautions that go into the holidays. We have to be careful with how we cook our turkeys, that we put out candles in the house, that appliances are running smoothly. But one area many people may forget is the safety of string lights on the outside of your house. There are some common issues that you may not even realize you have going in your light set up. 1. Extension cords Did you know that not all extension cords are created equal? A Powerful Government and a Weak Nation
by Jacob Hornberger, Future of Freedom Foundation One of the prime characteristics of our age is the tendency of Americans to conflate the federal government and our country. We see this especially in the realm of foreign policy, where people praise the troops for their service to their country when, in fact, the troops are doing nothing more than serving the national-security branch of the federal government. In actuality, the federal government and the country are two separate and distinct entities, a phenomenon reflected by the Bill of Rights, which expressly protects the country from the federal government. Suppose the following question were posed to the American people of today: “What do you believe is the biggest threat to the freedom and well-being of the …

Submitted by Reputation Stars. Google is very good about serving accurate information to users. Too good, it seems. Mugshots can be a very thorny issue for some people. Most of us learned from those mistakes and there is no reason you need to continue suffering for something done years ago. If your mugshot has been posted to Google, there may be a way to help you. Talk to the Source The first step is to go directly to the website in question. Look for a contact form, an email address or anything else you can use to …
New Spoliation Opinion
I have always had an interest in spoliation of evidence. Spoliation is the negligent or intentional destruction or alteration of evidence or the failure to preserve evidence for relevant to future, and sometimes even pending, litigation. This is not an issue we see often in car accident cases but we do see it in truck accident and product liability cases and, to a less extent in medical malpractice claims. The Maryland Court of Appeals took a look at this issue in Cumberland Insurance Group v. Delmarva Power. This case involved the treatment of spoliation of evidence when the physical object destroyed is itself the subject of the case. The context is a little boring. This is a battle between an insurance company and a utility company so, …
